The Delhi high court on Thursday vacated the stay imposed by a single judge on the reservation of 80% Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds in 33 private hospitals in the national capital. A bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonium Prasad said that no citizen with a health emergency should be made to run from pillar to post if there is a bed available in a hospital.Later,the Delhi High Court has directed 33 private hospitals in the capital to reserve 80 per cent beds for Covid infected patients. These reseve ICU beds for coronavirus patients should be kept separately from the 20 per cent reserved for non-Covid patients to avoid the spread of the infection.
The Court has also asked the Delhi Government to filed a report withing three days about the preparations taken in the wake of the rapidly increasing Covid-19 cases. The court will reviewed its order after two weeks, once again. Delhi recorded its biggest single-day jump of 8,593 coronavirus cases on Wednesday that took its infection tally to over 4.59 lakh people, while 85 new fatalities pushed the national capital's death toll to 7,228.
